BERLIN (Reuters) - Bulgaria's ambassador to Germany was briefly arrested after a car chase in which police tried to pull him over for dangerous driving, German officials have said.
Police eventually stopped Ambassador Nikolai Apostoloff, who was driving a diplomatic car at the time.
"The car was veering from side to side," a Berlin police spokeswoman said on Thursday. "It was dangerous."
Police eventually made Apostoloff stop and briefly arrested him after he refused to identify himself. Once his diplomatic credentials had been established, police had to release him.
No one at the Bulgarian embassy was available for comment. Bulgarian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Gergana Grancharova told the Bulgarian state news agency BTA she had yet to receive a report from German police on the incident.
