A wild boar which escaped from an abattoir and had been on the run for 12 days has died in a road accident, police have said.
The pig, dubbed Houdini, was hit by a car near Galashiels in the Scottish borders shortly after 8pm on Saturday.
The 130lb tuskless runaway had dodged the chop on September 13 by fleeing from the Scottish Borders Abattoir on Winston Road in the town.
