I mean, Jeez, the guy is running for president. How about a little feedback? How can you be sure about him if you can't discuss him. I have been hearing some atrocious things about him and I want to know if you are aware he is like this.

@edgarblythe,
Trump will nominate Supreme Court justices who will defend my Second Amendment rights.

Hillary will nominate Supreme Court justices who will allow my Second Amendment rights to be violated.

Further, Hillary will start outlawing guns by imperial decree, and her judicial nominees will allow this to happen.

I'm voting for the candidate who will protect my civil rights.

@oralloy,
But you said the same things about Obama and Romney four years ago. Obama has just over two months left to get all those guns and so far he has taken none.

There you go again, clouding the issue with facts.

That is incorrect.

Obama has issued imperial decrees that prevent law-abiding people from buying guns.

Obama has nominated justices who support allowing the Second Amendment to be violated.

Further, Obama tried (and tried hard) to have laws passed that would violate our Second Amendment rights. He was defeated in that endeavor, but it certainly wasn't for lack of trying.

I don't know why Democrats try to fool us into thinking they aren't out to violate our rights.

Did the Nazis ever try to fool Jews into thinking they weren't out to harm them? If so, were any Jews fooled?

@edgarblythe,
Donald Trump is proof of how fed up with the status quo the public is.

If they weren't so responsible for how we got here, I'd sympathize.

We could have a couple of thousand posts argument about guns, but I don't plan to participate in it, beyond pointing out that only a sap believes gun control equals taking away all the guns.

If the Republicans outlawed all political speech by liberals, would that be a violation of the right to free speech?

Or would the proper response be to say "only a sap believes that they are trying to abolish all speech"?

@oralloy,
Abolish all of something is not precisely the same as put a few controls on something.

It's a VERY simple concept Ed, and at this point I feel that anyone missing it is doing so intentionally.. Just like it's done on EVERY other potentially dangerous machine or device or item that is sold in America, there need to be some commonsense regulations on the sale and distribution of firearms. That DOESN'T mean ban or confiscate ALL firearms, and it DOESN'T mean abolish the 2nd amendment - and ANYONE with ANY sense at all knows that.

Anyone who doesn't see that is either crazy or being intentionally obtuse.

When your supposed few controls are egregious violations of the Second Amendment, it doesn't matter whether or not you are proposing to ban all guns.

What matters is that you are trying to impose egregious violations of the Second Amendment.

commonsense

Every single time someone argues that we should grievously violate civil rights, they always use the term "common sense".

Every. Single. Time.

Or would it be OK to bar liberals from engaging in political speech because, after all, it isn't a ban on ALL speech?

I don't know why Democrats think they they will fool anyone by denying what everyone can clearly see that they are doing.

As far as preposterous claims go, it is right up there with the idea of a Nazi trying to convince Jews that he means them no harm.

But when they can see that you mean to do exactly that, they are not going to be fooled.

@oralloy,
How many times do I have to post on a2k that I have owned guns. In fact, I have been weighing getting a pistol in the near future. I just want some common sense control enacted. When a couple dozen innocent people get gunned down by one person it is time to take away that kind of fire power. Every time there is a massacre, I say aloud: "You did this oralloy. How does it feel to murder little kids and grownups?"

Does owning guns make it OK to violate other people's gun rights?

Every single time someone wants to violate civil rights, they invoke "common sense" as if those two words somehow make it OK.

The Democrats are not even trying to reduce firepower. Right now their short-term goal is to start barring large groups of law abiding citizens from being able to own guns.

That said, people have the right to a certain degree of firepower, and as the Democrats progressively ban more and more guns, one day they will get around to attempting such a violation.
