A World War Two pillbox on a tiny island was sold at auction for £80,000 - £10,000 above its guide price.

The one-roomed concrete property with 17-inch thick walls and glazed gun slits for windows is on 26-acre Burgh Island in the South Hams area of Devon.

The property - called The Block House - is a few hundreds yards from mainland Bigbury-on-Sea. It was built as part of the coastal fortifications against a Nazi invasion which never came.
