Is 'made strange voices' OK?

The child suffered from panic disorders, made strange voices, and hurt herself and the people around her.

Is the part in bold OK? I believe that made should be replaced by uttered? Am I correct?

Thanks.

@tanguatlay,
I'd say "made strange vocalizations"

@tanguatlay,
I'd vote for "voices"

Of course "sounds" or even "utterings" might do
Chai's seems a bit awkward, maybe 2 long

Forgive

@dalehileman,
But people don't "make voices".

They hear voices.

They make sounds, vocalizations.

@PUNKEY,
I suddenly thought of utter strange sounds.

Is it OK?

@tanguatlay,
It is, but for general conversation, I think I prefer Punkey's suggestion.

But it is not for general discussion. It is used in a religious testimony.

Aha!

In some churches here, they 'speak in tongues'.

I was readling along in the thread and five or six posts in I began thinking "speak in tongues" and got to the last one, and, dang, Roger beat me to it, you are the devil, Roger (or is that Hillary Clinton, according to that tool of Satan, Donald Trump).

@tanguatlay,
It depends upon the format in which you are using it.

There are no hard and fast rules in fiction. Authors play with language all of the time. Having said that, this doesn't seem to be one of those cases.

If this is a sentence from a expository piece, the phrase doesn't work.

It is not common to say people "make" voices (of any kind)
