Woman accidentally killed by Florida officer during roleplaying exercise

Police in Florida say a woman has been accidentally shot to death by an officer during a citizens academy exercise.

Multiple media outlets report that Punta Gorda Police Chief Tom Lewis says Mary Knowlton was taking part in a roleplaying scenario Tuesday when she was "mistakenly struck with a live round."

Lewis says Knowlton was chosen from about 35 people in the class for a "shoot/don't shoot" simulation. He says she was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The officer involved has not been identified and is on administrative leave pending a Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigation, Lewis says.

I contacted the Admins in regard to the lack of Tag Button and the inability to remove the disrespectful Humor tag from the thread.

The tag button is missing. I've pointed it out as much as I could but could get no answers.

Relax. Don't have a freaking stroke. This is a free forum (free of charge for us users that is). I'm sure they're working on it.

My understanding is that the devs made it so members can't tag any topics but their own. OPs can still tag their own topics, even new ones.

I know some users get fired up when people use the tag button to express an opinion about the thread starter by tagging e.g. "idiot", "fool", "yawn", "fascist propaganda" etc. Perhaps this has something to do with it? You only have to look at some of the deplorable tags I have created to see that.

I believe something about this was mentioned in one of those threads about "coming changes" that was posted late last year.

They may tend towards the non-offensive in most cases, however, if the thread can only be tagged by the thread starter that would fly in the face of your lack of admittance. If you were not responsible for it, report it as there may be a glitch in the system.

Returning to the thread topic, yet another case of tragic and more info needed to learn who placed live ammo and why.
