COLOMBO (AFP) - Sri Lankan police have arrested nine colleagues from an anti-vice squad who are accused of running their own vice ring, a senior officer revealed.

The nine men, including an inspector, were accused of demanding the services of prostitutes from a casino, robbing foreigners and extorting money, Colombo's police Deputy Inspector-General, Sirisena Herath said Thursday.

"The men have been suspended from service with immediate effect," Herath said. "Investigations are continuing, but they will be taken before a magistrate later today."

Police sources said it was believed to be one of the biggest vice rackets operated by policemen in Sri Lanka in recent times.

I don't see a problem. As I understand, policemen in Sri Lanka are not prohibited from moonlighting.
