Is there a way to adapt the circuit inside a RC car to switch on a light?

I have a couple of RC cars lying around with their remote controls. Is there a way I can connect the receiver to a switch which can turn on a light? Then when I press again it turns off? I want to switch on a led light I made, from the bed or across the home. The remote has a lot of range.

I know there are dedicated WiFi controlled and IR switches available online but I just want to do it this way, If anyone can explain how to do that.

I have rudimentary electrical knowledge that is limited to soldering, making simple circuits etc. I don't know much about transistors and relays etc.
