Well the Democratic National Convention is over. The assessment seems to be nothing more then a stream of character references for someone without character. If she gets a bounce in the polls someone is going to be lying.

@giujohn,
The big money men have now come out of the shadows and are getting ready to start the big cash flow. These guys are always looking for a "goodie" to hang onto.

I was very happy with the Democratic convention. But, we will see next week when the next round of polling comes out.

This is going to be a fun thread if, as I expect, Hillary starts to pull away next week.

The Muslim father of a fallen hero who offered Trump his copy of the Constitution to read... what a burn! That is going to smart for a good while.

@giujohn,
Barack Obama also looked pretty good. His popularity ratings are pretty good for his eighth year and the Democrats are clearly happy to make this a referendum on his administration.

Again... the polls will tell us if this is a good idea or not.

The problem is this parade of "character references" have done nothing to assuage the fears of the American public to the tune of 68% that she has no character and cannot be trusted.

@giujohn,
People(69%) of the American public are worried about the economy and their own financial futures. Those who've retired are worried they may outlive their savings, while those still working are worried about their pensions, their kid's college tuition, their own homes and their elderly parents.

Moreover, kids coming out of college with huge loan debt suffer even further, with a growing difficulty in finding well paying jobs.

Folks with PhDs in the sciences have to endure 10+ years of postdoctoral experience and then, after that long wait, they still can't find an excellent job in academic research/teaching. By the time some guys finally land a job, they've entered middle age...Some are then considered too old for a college teaching position.

The whole thing is endless and depressing and dearly hurts the next generation.

@Miller,
What I found interesting in Obama's speech he was talking about how Hillary will carry on, basically an extension of his administration but in Bills speech he kept heralding her as a change maker... So if everything is great with the country as Hillary is saying and as Obama is saying what does she need to change? I thought it was pretty funny that after her speech they came out with figures for the economy where it only grew 1.2% less than half of what it was expected to do... Billary is in big trouble.

What it all boils down to is people for Trump will vote for Trump the people for Hillary will vote for Hillary's nothing is going to change their minds... It's The Independents the 20% undecided who will decide this election. And if you watched the groups with their hands on the dial as Hillary was speaking you saw the Democrats giving Hillary an A and the Republicans giving her an F but consistently the independence gave her C's and D's.

@maxdancona,
Well I don't see how that is considering basically this is a toss-up at this point... And we have yet to see the full story on Hillary's emails... or for that matter the Clinton Foundation situation . What you see is what you get with Donald Trump there's not too much to learn about him and nothing that I think will change anyone's mind... doesn't seem to matter what he says ... prediction is that's not the case with Hillary I think we have more to learn about her before the election and I think that will be the deciding factor for those undecided.

@giujohn,
I don't think so GiuJohn. This election isn't about Hillary. It could have been about Hillary... but it isn't.

The Republican party has been hijacked by Angry White People filled with hatred. It didn't have to be this way.... but you can kind of see how this happened. The Republicans have long been flirting with the Devil of White Supremacy for decades now and it has finally caught up with them. The Republicans thought they were being clever... they could stoke racial hatred while they kept it at bay by combining with more reasonable positions like fiscal conservatism and religious freedom.

But Trump broke this wide open, and now the Republicans are stuck with it.

I will be the first to admit that Hillary is not a very good candidate. But she is good enough.

This election will be about Trump... and he will lose as he must. And the smouldering ashes of the conservative movement will allow the progressive issues to flourish for at least another 4 years.

It didn't have to be this way. But as a Progressive I hope that we take full advantage of the conservative collapse starting with the defeat of Trump.

It was the conservatives who did this to themselves. As a proud liberal... I am going to enjoy every moment of it.

@giujohn,
You guys have spent more than 8 years fighting, cursing, and insulting Barack Obama. You have called him "lyin' African", and "Atheist" and "Muslim" and "Socialist". Not only does he convincingly win two terms and earn above average approval ratings... Hillary ******* Clinton is going to win the presidency by embracing him. The country has moved away from you, and it ain't coming back.

You have to see the humor in that.

I am going to fully enjoy this election.

That's schadenfreude.

With hope in one hand and **** in the other want to guess what you got?
I hope you're not easily prone to depression... Because if you are before November you should stock up on Wellbutrin.

@maxdancona,
Scotch... you see thats your problem... scotch is nothing but flavored vodka. I drink straight vodka. Everybody knows that all those impurities or congeners in alcoholic gives you a headache... If I want a headache I can always talk to a liberal.

Question:
How do the klintons go from being 8 million dollars in debt in 2001 to a net worth of over a hundred million dollars in 15 years on a government salary?
