The cremated remains of a Washington man were intended to be scattered from a small aeroplane over a memorial garden - but ended up crashing through the roof of a house.

The bag of ashes fell out of the plane as it circled the cemetery in Forest Grove, Oregon, and ended up in the attic of Barbara Vreeland's home.

"It really rattled our place," said Vreeland, who was at her kitchen sink when the ashes hit the roof. "I feel for those people. But I think some of their relative is still in our attic."

Seems kind of silly to spread ashes on a garden from a plane. Couldn't you just walk through the garden instead? Wouldn't you reserve the plane thing for going over long distances, great heights or bodies of water?
