Where you live what types of natural disasters are you vulnerable to??
Earthquakes.
(plus minor flooding, not really disastrous)
Not many right here, although i've seen more tornadoes in the past than i ever cared to . . .
Earthquakes, volcanic dust and lahars.
*Well, the lahars are a stretch RIGHT where I am.
Fbaezer, Mexico is built on what was once an inland sea, n'est-ce pas? Does this have any effect on the consequences of earthquakes or floods?
It was a lake, boss. A tiny part is still alive.
It does have tremendous impact.
In fact, in 1985 the zones that were destroyed were the ones built over the bed of the lake (mostly downtown) and those built over the canals. There were neighborhoods in which buildings fell only on certain streets or avenues, while two blocks away they were untouched.
Minor floods are more common on the part where there are still some canals left. In fact, it rains harder in that part of the city (and it is 2°F cooler as an average).
Tornado's and Earthquakes are becoming more common and the longshot is the volcanic blow over - if it blows in this direction again.
opps forgot forest fire and ice store had both in past 10 or 12 years - nasty buggers
Michigan is subject to seasonal tornado's and occasional minor flooding.
we have the many species of mosquito. I do n ot like mosquitos. They are a plague.
Back in Pa, we have sinkholes, not the big house swallowing variety you see in Florida , but little annoying ones that open in a field and , like a chuckhole can cause you to bust an axle.
Weve had a tornado last year near Elkton MD and one near Strasburg but that aint bad
The Susquehanna floods real good every 500 years or so.
Outside a that, it aint too bad.
cept for them damn aliens
We have fire ants and brown recluse spiders. They can cause all manner of havoc to people. A few years a man on a local golf course stepped into a fire ant hill, got bitten, went into anaphylactic shock, and died before the ambulance came. Most people who come down to Florida from the north have no idea as how dangerous these bugs are!
I saw a guy getting anti-biotic infusions because he had got bitten by a brown recluse spider. His leg was all colors, from black to brown to red. When I first saw him, he could hardly walk, but he did gradually improve.
