f(x)=x²+tan(PIx/2)+3
when -1<x<1

Find f-¹(3) and f(f-¹(5)).

f inverse 3 means, "what value of x will make the function return 3?" so all you have to do is set the function equal to 3 and then solve. not all functions have an inverse.

so you know that f inverse something will give you a value for x where f(x) = 5. then they ask you to plug that value of x back into the function, and see what you get out. so by definition, you're going to get a 5.
