Just kidding big guy...
who you callin' a big ...
uhhhh, never mind
Ooh, I think I like that idea, Phoenix! I always wondered about the bold green, but you're right...it looks lovely next to your avatar. I shall have to do some experimenting...let's see...
Does this go with my avatar?
Does this go with my avatar?
Does this go with my avatar?
Does this go with my avatar?
edit: hmmm...orange, perhaps?
Hehe, I see, Phoenix... I dunno, I spent a lot of time in typesettign world when learning LaTeX, which is, before anyone starts making funny comments about fetishes, a typesetting system that produces very neat output...
And there I grew to be restrictive with boldness :-) So to me, bold letters means emphasis, which in a way lets me see your posts as if you are SHOUTING ALL THE TIME if you know what I mean :-)
It'll just take me some time getting used to it ;-)
Eeep... more boldness...
<sigh> Am I just oldfashioned, maybe?
Orange goes best with your avatar, Eva.
Women are always thinking on the right combination of colors,

you either get used to it, or discover that you're scrolling past Phoenix without really meaning to - which is what I find myself doing. I'm so used to scrolling past bold and CAP posters on other forums that it's fairly automatic. I occasionally have to remember to reset that instinctive reach for the scroll button when I'm here.
Oh, I know you would... I'm just saying that's the impression I get, because you use bold letters. Tehy just make your test stick out of the rest, you know what I mean?
There's a general advice in typesetting that says "if you are unsure whether to use bold letters or not - that means you shouldn't." :-)
This seems kind of wishy washy to me.
This any better?
I wouldn't say I find assertive women off-putting - BUT HOW WOULD YOU LIKE IT IF I USED ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME? I guess you would at least find it strange and need time to get used to it.
What probably adds to the whole thing is that I'm often using the so-called Usenet, which is a purely text-based discussion medium... except for some Micrisoft newsgroups, HTML postings are considered a no-no in the Usenet, so you have to use plain text all the time.
hihp I rarely use caps- If I do it is usually one word, for emphasis.
Tehe... I'm not saying you should change it, okay? I didn't want to criticize you, basically I was curious as to why you do it, and then I explained why it struck me as somethign that makes me curious - because it looks like emphasis to me and I wanted to know if you actualyl always want to emphasize everything you say :-)
I guess my basic point in here is that I, personally, think that if you write normal text, you should not try to decorate it as if it is anything else but normal text.
That said, I don't want to press my opinion on you :-) You do what you seem fit. And I do what I seem fit.
Btw, I don't find normal, green letters "wishy washy". It's fine, normal text.
I like Phoenix' writing; for some reason, that bold green more compliments the avatar than normal green...
Oh, and I know you rarely use caps :-)
<sigh> how do I explain that? You picked up on my saying I consider boldness similar to shouting, and asked if I dislike assertive women.
And I was trying to reply to that by explaining that I don't see that as a matter of assertiveness - it's just that boldness strikes me as "loud". If a whole passage is bold, that strikes me as "oddly loud".
So I asked you what you would think if I wrote in all caps - I assume you'd find that odd yourself.
All I was trying to do was to explain to you how it appears to me. That's it. I'm not saying you use caps, nor am I saying you shout :-)

Not really. It just looks right to me, and I am comfortable with it.
And it's fine that you're comfortable with it :-) AS I said, I just wanted to know, I didn't want you to change anything...
Holger, you should know that what is, in the relative terms of on-line boards, a rather old and well established term of etiquette, is observed here--all caps is considered shouting, and although usually not commented on in the title of a thread, is very likely to be condemned in the text of a response.
Setanta, I know that. What exactly are you trying to tell me?
