Sunshine too much for trains

"Leaves on the line" and "wrong type of snow" are just two excuses we have heard to explain late trains.

Now, one train operator has admitted its services have been delayed when the weather has been "too sunny".

In scorching temperatures, Midland Mainline's cabs have been too hot for its drivers to step into. It has meant more delays for passengers while the glass-surrounded compartments cool down. The company has now found its own solution to the sticky problem - custom-made blinds.

Neutral

The English companies-- à-- so delightfully stupid, in their not knowing that there is such a thing as air-conditioning.

The right type of snow is the Australian variety; on the hills and never on the city.
