IRS - Beware

Apparently the IRS is combing thru 2014 returns.

I received a letter of Determination stating that I owed $6,000 in additional taxes.

WTF!!?

The 6 page (back and front) explanation form takes an engineer to figure out. But here was the bottom line: A 1099 - Misc. Income form showing $810 was computed by the IRS to be $81,000!

I had to bring everything to my accountant and she said the original 1099-Mic income form was scanned wrong - by the IRS, which uses outdated computers.

I had 30 days in which to respond. They take 6 - 8 weeks to answer.
