This year I will be filing my Federal taxes jointly for the first time ever. I just scanned and emailed everything to the Tax Attorney. I’m curious how much of a savings we will get out of this. Married filing jointly with a child. Stay tuned Cool

@edgarblythe,
I hope so Edgar, we will see. I sent her everything and probably won’t hear back for at least a week.

If incomes are about equal, joint filing is a disadvantage. Joint filing is usually an advantage if one spouse has no, or very little income.

@roger,
That’s what we’ve been told Roger. She looking at all angles. Marco sold his condo last year and we unloaded another piece of property that was in my name. So we will find out if we should file jointly or separate by the end of next week.

@roger,
Looks like we will have to wait a while longer, Etrade hasn't sent out 1099's, their site says they will be mailed and posted on or before February 18.

@jcboy,
I never bother to file until the beginning of April. Until the time I continue to get dribs and drabs of paperwork coming in, amendments to forms already sent, etc.

@chai2,
I keep everything in Quicken so I pretty much have everything ready for the Tax Attorney by mid February. My parents used this same lady and I’ve used her ever since. Even thou she’s in CA and I’ve been in Florida, doesn’t really matter because we don’t pay any State Tax here.
