Mary Dhume was literally saved by the bell when she got up to answer the phone.
As Dhume, of Summerford, Ohio, picked up the receiver in the hallway, an out-of-control truck crashed through the living room where she had just been sitting.
There was nobody on the line, she said, adding: "Maybe it was God calling to tell me to get out of my living room."

Dumb? Excuse me while I go and bleach my hair, get a boob job, and buy a pink sports car.
Or should that be a pink truck? (For "impact" you see)
Oh Hallelujah, Holy Mother Mary Of Our Savior Jesus Christ Of Nazareth, it's a miracle
You serious or have you been reading my poetry lately, Rick?
Rick d'Israeli wrote:Oh Hallelujah, Holy Mother Mary Of Our Savior Jesus Christ Of Nazareth, it's a miracle
well true :-)
interesting, still these classical stories, but they happen always again and again...
Actually, I was just overreacting fortune. Or it was my Christian side popping up, I don't know. I (...) don't remember
Sorry, I watched 'The World According to Bush' last night and i now have a bit of a set against people attributing worldly events to divine intervention. That footage of George Dubbya on that televangelist's show was enough to make me sick.
Oddly enough, I wrote that 'Least of Men' poem a little while before I saw that program, but when I went back and read it afterwards it suddenly became a lot more vitriolic.
Just to make you feel better fortune: I'm not a Christian fundamentalist.
Nah, I don't mind what people believe, as long as they don't go around saying I have to believe it too (or anyone else for that matter). That goes for religious types and political types.
Well it goes for philosophy too so I figure I've got most people covered.
Right, well, I'm going to bed before I start babbling about politics in rhyming verse again.
O, where was this, Fortune?
Have a good sleep fortune!
Thanks Rick!
Drom, it (along with another humble effort) is in the Original Writing section.
