Alligator snaps up dog

Matthew Goff was relaxing by a Florida pond when he looked up to see his dog, Sugar, trapped in the jaws of a alligator.

Goff, 29, of Gainesville, wrestled the beast and stabbed it with a pocket knife, forcing it to release the dog, who fled home with three bite marks.

"Then I just closed my eyes and ran away, just hoping that the alligator would be freaked out enough that he wouldn't try and bite me," Goff said.
