I've always been puzzled about people's saying 'scheissenhausen,' which I read as 's__t-live.' Scheissenhause is 'sh__house.'

oh yeah random fragments i heard throughout my life...
ive never had to use any of it..
the toad thing was told to me when i mustve been around 11-12 by a mate learning german it just stuck in my mind as some things do
as he was young too and just learning i cant vouch for the accuracy of it either
as for formally learning german... i dont think so
if i ever need to use it i will simply employ a translator

i think the shis hausen thing is just some english expression gone astray... they say sch en hau en cos it rhymes no more no less...

A lawyer from my native town had been sojourning at a Scottish law firm.

One of their associates was/is dean of the law department in the local university.
When asked by this lawyer, if he knew some German, the only words he remembered were "Scheiß-in-Teich" ('sh*t in the pond').

They later found out that he had been my penfriend and learnt this on his first visit at my home.
(That used to be the favourite curse of my late father :wink: )
