And, of course, a driving guitar rhythm right out of Dick Dale . . .

I heard him interviewed oncet, Boss, when he was doin' a concert in Columbus . . . he said he used steel strings from base guitars on the bottom three strings, and moved the bottom three strings to the top. Then he went out and got Fender to build him a custom amp . . . the dude was awesome . . . ain't that a great pic? I lucked onto it with a goggle image search . . .

This is one of my favorite Beach Boy Songs. I have an elderly neighbor who drives a red "muscle" car. I call her:

Quote:
It's the little old lady from pasadena

It's the little old lady from pasadena
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
Got a pretty little flower bed of white gardenias
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
But parked in her rickety old garage
Is a brand new shiny red super-stock dodge

And everybody's saying there's nobody meaner
Than the little old lady from pasadena
She drives real fast and she drives real hard
She's a terror out on colorado boulevard

It's the little old lady from pasadena

You can see her on the street just gettin' her kicks now
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
With her four speed stick and her four-twenty-six now
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
She's gonna get a ticket now sooner or later
'cause she can't keep her foot off the accelerator

And everybody's saying there's nobody meaner
Than the little old lady from pasadena
She drives real fast and she drives real hard
She's a terror out on colorado boulevard

And everybody's saying there's nobody meaner
Than the little old lady from pasadena
She drives real fast and she drives real hard
She's a terror out on coloradooulevard

It's the little old lady from pasadena

If you see her on the street don't try to choose her
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
You may have a goer but you'll never lose her
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
The guys come to race her from miles around
But she'll them a length and she'll shut 'em down

And everybody's saying there's nobody meaner
Than the little old lady from pasadena
She drives real fast and she drives real hard
She's a terror out on colorado boulevard

It's the little old lady from pasadena

Go granny, go granny, go granny go
Granny go
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
Granny go
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
Granny go
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
Granny go

The first day that she got the car, she got a ticket.....................for speeding! Laughing

Round round get around
I get around
Yeah
Get around round round I get around
I get around
Get around round round I get around
From town to town
Get around round round I get around
I'm a real cool head
Get around round round I get around
I'm makin' real good bread

I'm gettin' bugged driving up and down the same old strip
I gotta finda new place where the kids are hip

My buddies and me are getting real well known
Yeah, the bad guys know us and they leave us alone

I get around
Get around round round I get around
From town to town
Get around round round I get around
I'm a real cool head
Get around round round I get around
I'm makin' real good bread
Get around round round I get around
I get around
Round
Get around round round oooo
Wah wa ooo
Wah wa ooo
Wah wa ooo

We always take my car cause it's never been beat
And we've never missed yet with the girls we meet

None of the guys go steady cause it wouldn't be right
To leave their best girl home now on saturday night

I take it you're referring to http://search.able2know.com/Music/Lyrics/B/The_Beach_Boys/index.html ?

If so, no, that's not the Toolbar. That's the Portal.

It's a rainy dank morning so I need to post a comfort song. Pardon my indulgence.

The Warmth Of The Sun

What good is the dawn
That grows into day
The sunset at night
Or living this way

For I have the warmth of the sun
(Warmth of the sun)
Within me at night
(Within me at night)

The love of my life
She left me one day
I cried when she said
"I don't feel the same way"

Still I have the warmth of the sun
(Warmth of the sun)
Within me tonight
(Within me tonight)

I'll dreams of her arms
And though they're not real
Just like she's still there
The way that I feel

I loved like the warmth of the sun
(Warmth of the sun)
It won't ever die
(It won't ever die)

Brian Wilson reportedly said he wrote this song the day after he heard JFK had died. His sadness is evident.

my two fave beach boy songs

Sloop John B

We come on the sloop John B
My grandfather and me
Around Nassau town we did roam
Drinking all night
Got into a fight
Well I feel so broke up
I want to go home

So hoist up the John B's sail
See how the mainsail sets
Call for the Captain ashore
Let me go home, let me go home
I wanna go home, yeah yeah
Well I feel so broke up
I wanna go home

The first mate he got drunk
And broke in the Cap'n's trunk
The constable had to come and take him away
Sheriff John Stone
Why don't you leave me alone, yeah yeah
Well I feel so broke up I wanna go home

So hoist up the John B's sail
See how the mainsail sets
Call for the Captain ashore
Let me go home, let me go home
I wanna go home, let me go home
Why don't you let me go home
(Hoist up the John B's sail)
Hoist up the John B
I feel so broke up I wanna go home
Let me go home

The poor cook he caught the fits
And threw away all my grits
And then he took and he ate up all of my corn
Let me go home
Why don't they let me go home
This is the worst trip I've ever been on

So hoist up the John B's sail
See how the mainsail sets
Call for the Captain ashore
Let me go home, let me go home
I wanna go home, let me go home
Why don't you let me go home

God Only Knows

I may not always love you
But long as there are stars above you
You never need to doubt it
I'll make you so sure about it

God only knows what I'd be without you

If you should ever leave me
Though life would still go on believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would living do me

God only knows what I'd be without you

God only knows what I'd be without you

If you should ever leave me
Well life would still go on believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would living do me

God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows
God only knows what I'd be without you

Thanks for posting djj- God Only Knows was written with Carl Wilsons sweet voice in mind. It's truly an ethereal song.

It's a bit cloudy this morning but the surf report is intriguing...might be able to catch a few.

Catch a wave and you're sitting on top of the world

Don't be afraid to try the greatest sport around
Everybody tries it once
Those who don't just have to put it down
You paddle out turn around and raise
And baby that's all there is to the coastline craze
You gotta catch a wave and you're sittin' on top of the world

Not just a fad cause it's been going on so long
All the surfers going strong
They said it wouldn't last too long
They'll eat their words with a fork and spoon
And watch 'em they'll hit the road and all be surfin' soon
And when they catch a wave they'll be sittin' on top of the world

Catch a wave and your sittin' on top of the world

So take a lesson from a top-notch surfer boy
Get yourself a big board
But don't you treat it like a toy
Just get away from the shady turf
And baby go catch some rays on the sunny surf
And when you catch a wave you'll be sittin on top of the world
