Most of science uses calculus as its basic language. Certainly any work in Physics over the past 3 centuries has been expressed in calculus and its descendant forms of math. If you look at any Physics paper, it is at least 75% math.

Other fields of mathematics on which scientific work depends are abstract algebra, not to be confused with ordinary algebra, and probability and statistics.

Good approximations are often possible without calculus, and without computers, but both are useful tools which simplify some kinds of problems and save conciderable time, effort, and uncertanty for persons skilled in calculus and/or computers. Neil
