Hi.
I have a 4 1/2 month old Burmese kitten. Koru.
Recently his breath began to smell *really* bad. He is healthy in all other ways - playful, good toilet habits, eats regularly...
I haven't changed his food, or any other things. He gets Hills Science Diet for kittens, and 1/2 a sheep heart a day (plus water).
I heard somewhere that when kittens begin to loose their baby teeth their breath gets really bad. Could this be the cause, or is it an urban legend? I don't think we went through the "bad breath" stage with my previous cat - but that was 13 years ago, and I could have forgotten it...
He's un-neutered, but I plan to get him done in about two weeks. Should I get the vet to check him out then?
Thanks for any advice!
I think the teeth thing could cause bad breath. From my own experience I know that out of control diabetes can cause breath like rotten fruit. But, you'd be noticing other things like excessive water drinking. And 4.5 months is young for a cat to get diabetes.
I'd definitely ask your vet about his breath.
Do you ever wonder where all the little teeth go? I've had lot's of cat's, but have yet to find a baby tooth.
Sorry, didn't mean to hi jack this, this topic just made me wonder. Please continue!
