I think that's an appropriate nickname!
The flower puts out a smell like rotting meat to attract flies and other insects. The actual flowers are arranged on the spadix, the dick-looking structure in the middle. The flies inadvertantly pollinate the flowers while looking for the rotten meat.
Jack-in-the-pulpits do a variation of the same thing, except that they emit a fungus smell to attract fungus gnats.
