Three sisters today became the first set of triplets to win places at Cambridge University.

Identical 18-year-old triplets Lil, Helen and Kate Armstrong celebrated after earning the grades they had to achieve to enable them to take up offers to read medicine, law and natural sciences at the prestigious university.

The sisters, who studied for A-Levels at Truro College, Cornwall, each had to achieve three A grades to gain their university places.
