A young couple swimming at a beach in southern Norway got the fright of their lives when an unusual guest slithered past them -- a large snake believed to be a boa constrictor.
Police launched a hunt for the tropical reptile, spotted at a camping site near the small town of Stavern, 90 miles southwest of Oslo. It's unclear where the snake came from in a country where keeping tropical species is banned.
Snake experts at the University of Oslo said the boa constrictor could not survive a Norwegian winter, with temperatures below freezing, and likely would be put down if police find it.
