How do you process a Security Event(Corporate Action) in a banking system?

As a banking system end user, I want to inquire how a corporate action is processed on all levels, like form, calculating positions, etc...
I want to particularly know which part requires human effort and which part the computer does to complete the processes. It would be really helpful. Please help! Thank you very much for who would enlighten me.
