@jespah,
Progressive rock pioneer, no doubt. Huge in the early 70s.

Studied many nights to Emerson, Lake and Palmer......went to sleep with the Moody Blues, Three Dog Night and Led Zeppelin.

No wonder my kid was a drummer on the road for 18 years.

@Joe Nation,
All of those were favorites of mine too.
Glad to hear your son is still playing in Austin.

@jespah,
Makes me sad as he was one of the greatest keyboardists in rock and in music, generally.

I don't know if this trend of losses is greater than other years but it sure seems so.

@jespah,
Man could that guy play the piano. Incredible talent. "Welcome back my friends, to the show that never ends..."

A school friend first introduced me to ELP via the first album - which I loved (Tank, Knife Edge, Lucky Man). He loved Brain Salad Surgery but I only ever loved the first album.

In retrospect I like Greg Lake more than Keith Emerson (having King Crimson in your CV trumps The Nice).

Carl Palmer was just the Jean Claude Van Damme of drumming.
