ATHENS (Reuters) - Hundreds of fireworks set off during a reception of heads of state at the home of the Athens Olympics chief in northern Athens set a nearby park on fire, police officials have said.
The fireworks sent rocketing into the air from the home of Gianna Angelopoulos during a garden party for foreign dignitaries on Saturday landed in a nearby park setting bushes and trees ablaze.
Several fire trucks rushed to the scene to extinguish the blaze, only a few kilometres north of the city centre.
"The blaze was started by fireworks and has now been extinguished," the police official said.
Sounds like a hot time in the old town tonight!
LOL
I did not realize the Olympics were such a burning issue.
