Almost all the physical 'evidence' purported by the Roswell promoters was no doubt specifically manufactured as 'evidence' and with few exceptions, nobody seriously pretends otherwise. But the folklore and legends that have built up about it have made Roswell an interesting E.T. center in which people can indulge in speculation and fantasy and it's all great fun. Nobody seriously points out the fabrications because it is simply too much fun to pretend.

The old timers previously mentioned, however, are true believers and their faith is unshakable. And there are so many other observations and/or reports around the world that have not yet been fully explained.

Personally, I favor an open mind on the subject.

If there ever actually was or is a genuine alient contact event, no one would have to try very hard to cover it up, since there would certainly be enough frauds and opportunists to discredit it anyway.

My former Congressman, the late Steve Schiff, was one of the most honest, honorable, ethical people anyone could hope to meet. Before he died he was actively working to get some old classified files re the Roswell incident declassified to put the questions to rest at last. He died however before he got through all the red tape to get that done. His successor, Heather Wilson, also an exemplary congresswoman, chose not to take up the cause. Many of us were relieved in one sense as there was no danger the 'myth' might be destroyed. On the other hand, it could have given it a great deal more clout.

One thing is fairly certain. The government's position was that all the bruhaha was over a weather balloon. But whatever crashed out there that day was no weather balloon. We just don't know what, in fact, it was.

It is the Holy Grail of UFO sighting, but there have been a number of fakers associated with it over the years, which makes it harder to get at the truth.

Sorry aliens on earth don't exist. If they did there would be proof, and there isn't any. Not one jot. One iota. Not a scintilla of any evidence anywhere ever that stands up to the slightest scrutiny. Sorry.

Most likely this is correct. At least as far back as recorded history goes.

Of course, that doesn't mean that they're not coming today. There is some probability per unit time of being visited. We just don't know what that number is.
