About 20% of condoms made in India are used for sexual activity - the rest are used to waterproof roads, roofs, and polish gold embroidered garments.

A report, by Professor Ramakant of King George's Medical University of Lucknow, says 75-80% of condoms produced annually are used for commercial purposes.

In urban areas, condoms are purchased in bulk by civil contractors and mixed with concrete and tar to make roads.

The latex in the condoms helps make the roads smooth and resistant to cracks.

Builders spread condoms beneath the cement plaster on roofs and as heat penetrates they expand to form a waterproof layer that prevents seepage.

we used to use condoms in density detrminations in the field. Wed dig out a sample, then spread a condom in the hole(that we dug) and fill it with water and then measure the volume of water. Condoms worked better than balloons cause they are waay more flexible.

I know that Mr Macadams mixture for asphalt contained cows blood but as for condoms. I know that shredded tires are mixed in with MC-30

okay, stupid question time...

If they need latex for the roads, wouldn't simply buying latex in bulk be cheaper than condoms?
