Stuck on two clues

Parochial - have AD_L_

and fruit-carting baskets LU_S

We'll need more of the crossing clues for both of them, I think. And the only thing I could think of for the basket is a trug, but that's too many letters, unless lugs is somehow going to work. Is this a regular crossword or a cryptic?

I don't think it's a cryptic, either. But who knows what the first one is - I imagine one of the crossing letters is incorrect.

I agree with Jespah, the first word must have one or more wrong letters or else the answer would have been found among the following:

I agree the second word is lugs.

Whoops, seems I was looking at the wrong clue for the letters of the first one. (It was actually French antarctic region - ADELIE). Sorry about that folks!

Still stuck on the other one though. I have checked all surrounding & cannot get any other letters than LU_S. I think I will have to go with lugs.

churchillbear, your first word answer has 6 letters, not 5 as in your original post.

Please be careful with the information you post when requesting puzzle help or people won't be willing to spend the time on it if its not accurate.

Lugs looks right given this definition:

lug: a box or basket holding 25 to 40 pounds of fruit or vegetables; specifically : a box having an inside width of 13 1/2 inches, an outside length of 17 1/2 inches, and a depth of from 4 1/4 to 7 3/4 inches
