First 45 rpm I ever bought was 'Hit the Road Jack' with birthday money. I played that tune so much I wore it out. God bless my parents who never complained when I played it 15 times in a row.
In 1962 I returned to California, where I had been raised for ten years. I discovered an LA radio station that played only Ray Charles records. I listened to it as long as I could. We need more stations like that.

One of my faves of this era, and one of the first and most successful "Summer of Love"
bands to arrive on the music scene, the band called It's a Beautiful Day:

I think he has been nicknamed "The Voice". Roy Orbison sounded mazing and sent goosebumps up your spine even towards the end of his life.

Stunning one of his best albums. He used to date Charlotte Rampling (Red Sparrow amongst others) His father was Maurice Jarre (Dr Zhivago) amongst others. No vocals just sit back & wait for your mind to be blown away!
