There were green aligators and long necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants
As sure as you were born
I just didn't see no unicorn
--?

Chicks and ducks and geese gonna scurry
When I take you out in my surrey
When I take you out in my surrey
With the fringe on top
--From "Oklahoma"

Let me tell you 'bout the birds and the bees
And the flowers and the trees
And the moon up above
And a thing called love
--?

Raggedy - that's a pound sign (I think) and how much you owe prolly depends on what country is selling it (I think).

Quote:
I'm dreaming now of Hally,
Sweet Hally, sweet Hally,
I'm dreaming now of Hally,
For the tho't of her is one that never dies;
She's sleeping in the valley,
In the valley, in the valley,
She's sleeping in the valley,
And the mockingbird is singing where she lies.
Listen to the mockingbird,
Listen to the mockingbird,
The mockingbird still singing o'er her grave;
Listen to the mockingbird,
Listen to the mockingbird,
Still singing where the weeping willows wave.

Ah! well I yet remember,
Remember, remember,
Ah! well, I yet remember,
When we gather'd in the cotton, side by side;
'Twas in the mild September,
September, September,
'Twas in the mild September,
And the mockingbird is singing where she lies.
Listen to the mockingbird,
Listen to the mockingbird,
The mockingbird still singing o'er her grave;
Listen to the mockingbird,
Listen to the mockingbird,
Still singing where the weeping willows wave.

Is it just me or did "Heckle and Jeckle" pop into anyone else's head when they read the words "Listen to the Mockingbird"?

Now reading the lyrics, I'm thinking what a strange song to introduce cartoons.

Not long ago I heard my little niece singing along to a kid's tape that included "My Darling Clementine" - children's songs about drowning girls!?

....and they complain about "today's" lyrics....

Thanks Little K. It says Jewish music - JMD.Co.UK so it is probably coming from England. It says the site is secure. I'm going to chance it.

Hear that lonesome whippoorwill,
He sounds too blue to fly.
The midnight train is whining low,
I'm so lonesome I could cry.
I've never seen a night so long
When time goes crawling by.
The moon just went behind a cloud
To hide its face and cry.

Did you ever see a robin weep,
When leaves began to die?
That means he's lost the will to live,
I'm so lonesome I could cry.

The silence of a falling star
Lights up a purple sky.
And as I wonder where you are
I'm so lonesome I could cry.

Anybody post this one yet?

Quote:
There's a little white duck sitting in the water
Little white duck doing what he oughta
He took a bite of a lily pad
Flapped his wings and he said "I'm glad"
That I'm a little white duck sitting in the water
Quack, quack, quack
There's a little green frog swimming in the water
Little green frog doing what he oughta
He jumped right off of the lily pad
That the little duck bit and he said "I'm glad"
That I'm a little green frog swimming in the water
Gulp, gulp, gulp
There's a little black bug floating on the water
A little black bug doing what he oughta
He tickled the frog on the lily pad
That the little duck bit and he said "I'm glad"
That I'm a little black bug floating on the water
Quick, quick, quick
There's a little red snake lying in the water
A little red snake doing what he oughta
He frightened the duck and the frog so bad
And he ate the little bug and he said "I'm glad"
That I'm a little red snake lying in the water
Sss, sss, sss
And now there's nobody left left sitting in the water
Nobody left doing what he oughta
Nothing left but the lily pad
The duck and the frog ran away
There's nobody left sitting in the water
Boo, hoo, hoo
Because of the snake that ate the bug
That tickled the frog
That went kerchug
There's nobody left to sing about alas and alak
Not even the little white duck
Quack quack quack quack

Cry Of The Wild Goose
Frankie Laine

[Words and Music by Terry Gilkyson]

Chorus
My heart knows what the wild goose knows
And I must go where the wild goose goes
Wild goose, brother goose, which is best
A wanderin' fool or a heart at rest

Tonight I heard the wild goose cry
Hangin' north in the lonely sky
Tried to sleep, it warn't no use
'Cause I am a brother to the old wild goose

Oh, my heart knows what the wild goose knows
And I must go where the wild goose goes
Wild goose, brother goose, which is best
A wanderin' fool or a heart at rest

Woman was kind and true to me
She thinks she loves me, more fool she
She's got a learn that ain't no use
To love a brother of the old wild goose

Chorus

The cabin is warm and the snow is deep
I got a woman who lies asleep
She'll wake up tomorrow's dawn
She'll find, poor critter, that her man is gone

Oh, my heart knows what the wild goose knows
And I must go where the wild goose goes
Wild goose, brother goose, which is best
A wanderin' fool or a heart at rest
Let me fly, let me fly, let me fly away

Spring is comin' and the ice will break
And I can't linger for a woman's sake
She'll see a shadow pass overhead
She'll find a feather 'side my bed

Chorus

Shel probably wrote other songs you didn't connect with him, such as Johnny Cash's Boy Named Sue and Dr Hooks Cover of the Rolling Stone.

One mornin' when I was ridin'
In my old pickup truck
A beautiful bluebird came flyin' down
My eyes caught the color
As it lead me down the road
Dippin' and bobbin' in the sun
I've never seen that blue before
'cept in one place
And she's not here with me right now
So I followed all the way
To the top of the hill
That's where she kept on climbin' lord
Someday I will

Beautiful bluebird
See how she flies
Looks like she's always goin' home
If heaven had a window
Where the sun came shinin' through
Like a beautiful bluebird
I'd come flyin' back to you

Well it kind of struck me funny
Sort of made me smile
After all these years on this old road
How God could show me somethin'
Never say a word
There's so much that I don't know
I've never seen that blue before
Except in one place
And she's not here with me right now
I followed all the way to the top of the hill
That's where she kept on climbin' lord
And someday I will

Beautiful bluebird
See how she flies
Looks like she's always goin' home
If heaven had a window
Where the sun came shinin' through
Like a beautiful bluebird
I'd come flyin' back to you

Beautiful bluebird
See how she flies
Looks like she's always goin' home
If heaven had a window
Where the sun came shinin' through
Like a beautiful bluebird
I'd come flyin' back to you

That reminds me of Buffalo Springfield

Listen to my bluebird laugh.
She can't tell you why.
Deep within her heart, you see,
She knows only crying.
Just crying.

There she sits, a lofty perch
Strangest color blue.
Flying is forgotten now.
Thinks only of you.
Just you.
Oh yeah...

So, get all those blues,
Must be a thousand hues.
And be just differently used.
You just know.

You sit there mesmerized
By the depth of her eyes
That you can't categorize.
She got soul.

When my sugar walks down the street
The little birdies go "Tweet, tweet, tweet"
And in the evenin' when the sun go down
It's never dark when she's around

She's so affectionate I'll say this
And when she kisses me I'll stay kissed
When my sugar walks down the street
The little birdies go "Tweet, tweet, tweet"

And when my sugar walks down the street
All the birdies go "Tweet, tweet, tweet"
And in the evenin' when the sun go down
It's never dark when she's around

She's so affectionate and I'll say this
And when she kisses me I'll stay kissed
And when my sugar walks down the street
The little birdies go "Tweet, tweet, tweet"

You say you've got everything you want
And your bird can sing
But you don't get me
you don't get me

You say you've seen the seven wonders
And you bird is green
But you can't see me
you can't see me

When your prized possessions
start to weigh you down
Look in my direction
I'll be round, I'll be round

When your bird is broken
will it bring you down
You may be awoken
I'll be round, I'll be round

You tell me that you've heard every sound there is
And your bird can swing
But you can't hear me
You can't hear me

On our block all of the guys call her flamingo
Cause her hair glows like the sun, pretty flamingo
And her eyes can light the sky

When she moves she walks so fine like a flamingo
Crimson dress that clings so tight, pretty flamingo
She's out of reach and out of sight

When she walks by, she brightens up the neighbourhood
Oh every guy would make her his
If he just could, If she just would

Some sweet day, I'll make her mine pretty flamingo
Then every guy will envy me
Cause paradise is where I'll be

Pretty flamingo pretty flamingo

When she walks by she brightens up the neighbourhood
Oh every guy would make her his if he just could
If she just would

sha la la la la la la la pretty flamingo
sha la la la la la la la pretty flamingo
sha la la la la la la la pretty flamingo

When the swallows come back to Capistrano
That's the day you promised to come back to me
When you whispered, "Farewell", in Capistrano
Twas the day the swallows flew out to sea.

All the mission bells will ring
The chapel choir will sing
The happiness you'll bring
Will live in my memory
When the swallows come back to Capistrano
That's the day I pray that you'll come back to me
