Panzade: You are so right, and I'm so wrong and I can't believe that I just found out who did Bird on a Wire. It was Esther Ofarim (Israel). - And I thought the DJ said Esther Phillips. Now, I have to track down the record. (lol)

Three angels up above the street,
Each one playing a horn,
Dressed in green robes with wings that stick out,
They've been there since Christmas morn.
The wildest cat from Montana passes by in a flash,
Then a lady in a bright orange dress,
One U-Haul trailer, a truck with no wheels,
The Tenth Avenue bus going west.
The dogs and pigeons fly up and they flutter around

There's a little white duck sitting in the water
Little white duck doing what he oughta
He took a bite of a lily pad
Flapped his wings and he said "I'm glad"
That I'm a little white duck sitting in the water
Quack, quack, quack
There's a little green frog swimming in the water
Little green frog doing what he oughta
He jumped right off of the lily pad
That the little duck bit and he said "I'm glad"
That I'm a little green frog swimming in the water
Gulp, gulp, gulp
There's a little black bug floating on the water
A little black bug doing what he oughta
He tickled the frog on the lily pad
That the little duck bit and he said "I'm glad"
That I'm a little black bug floating on the water
Quick, quick, quick
There's a little red snake lying in the water
A little red snake doing what he oughta
He frightened the duck and the frog so bad
And he ate the little bug and he said "I'm glad"
That I'm a little red snake lying in the water
Sss, sss, sss
And now there's nobody left left sitting in the water
Nobody left doing what he oughta
Nothing left but the lily pad
The duck and the frog ran away
There's nobody left sitting in the water
Boo, hoo, hoo
Because of the snake that ate the bug
That tickled the frog
That went kerchug
There's nobody left to sing about alas and alak
Not even the little white duck
Quack quack quack quack

Well, I doubt anyone else has ever heard this one, it's a children's song with a couple birds in it....

One little owl says 'hoo hoo'
two little owls say 'hooo hooo'
three little owls say ' hooo hooooo'
as they sat in the old oak treeeee.

and there's a crow/'caw' verse too.

There once was an ugly duckling
With feathers all stubby and brown
And the other birds said in so many words
Get out of town
Get out, get out, get out of town
And he went with a quack and a waddle and a quack
In a flurry of eiderdown
That poor little ugly duckling
Went wandering far and near
But at every place they said to his face
Now get out, get out, get out of here
And he went with a quack and a waddle and a quack
And a very unhappy tear
All through the wintertime he hid himself away
Ashamed to show his face, afraid of what others might say
All through the winter in his lonely clump of wheat
Till a flock of swans spied him there and very soon agreed
You're a very fine swan indeed!
A swan? Me a swan? Ah, go on!
And he said yes, you're a swan
Take a look at yourself in the lake and you'll see
And he looked, and he saw, and he said
I am a swan! Wheeeeeeee!
I'm not such an ugly duckling
No feathers all stubby and brown
For in fact these birds in so many words said
The best in town, the best, the best
The best in town
Not a quack, not a quack, not a waddle or a quack
But a glide and a whistle and a snowy white back
And a head so noble and high
Say who's an ugly duckling?
Not I!
Not I!

When you go down on a Monday, Tuesday never comes
Nobody likes a hero when they don't know how to run
And if you drown on a Sunday, the sermon's never done
Nobody likes a user when he's eating up the sun

I've been away down Dixie in my old Kentucky home
Nobody likes a loser when he offers you the bone
I wanna stay down slowly, sexy Dixie women moan
Nobody loves a user when he don't bring his own

I am a black sheep crying at the sight of the face of the sun
Nobody likes a user when he offers just the crumbs
I am black crow flying, dying on the run
Nobody loves a user when they don't get none

On the wings of a snow-white dove
He sends His pure sweet love
A sign from above
On the wings of a dove

When troubles surround us, When evils come
The body grows weak, The spirit grows numb
When these things beset us, He doesn't forget us
He sends down His love
On the wings of a dove

On the wings of a snow-white dove
He sends His pure sweet love
A sign from above
On the wings of a dove

When Jesus went down To the river that day
He was baptized In the usual way
And when it was done, God blessed his son
He sent him his love
On the wings of dove

On the wings of a snow-white dove
He sends His pure sweet love
A sign from above
On the wings of a dove

When Noah had drifted On the flood many days
He searched for land In various ways
Troubles, he had some, But wasn't forgotten
He sent him His love
On the wings of a dove

On the wings of a snow-white dove
He sends His pure sweet love
A sign from above
On the wings of a dove

All I can remember is:

.... down to the pond(?) they did go,
wiggle-waggle, wiggle-waggle, to and fro...

....and the one little duck, with the feather on his back,
(something something something) said quack, quack, quack.

Guinevere
Guinevere of the royal court of Arthur
Draped in white velvet, silk and lace.
The rustle of her gown on the marble staircase,
Sparkles on fingers, slender and pale.
The jester he sleeps but the raven he creeps
Through the dark foreboding skies of the royal domain.

Maroon-coloured wine from the vineyards of Charlemagne
Is sipped by the queen's lips and so gently
Indigo eyes in the flickering candlelight,
Such is the silence o'er royal Camelot.
The jester he sleeps but the raven he creeps
Through the dark foreboding skies of the royal domain.

Guinevere of the royal court of Arthur
Draped in white velvet, silk and lace.
The rustle of her gown on the marble staircase,
Sparkles on her fingers both slender and pale.
The jester he sleeps but the raven he creeps
Through the dark foreboding skies of the royal domain.

I will bring you gold apples and grapes made of rubies
That have shone in the eyes of a prince of the breeze.
Bright cascading crystals, they danced in the sand dunes
On the beach of no footprints to harpsichord tunes.

A throne of white ivory, a gown of white lace
Lies still in the magic of a timeless place.
One hundred small children, they laugh at the white doves
That rest on their hands with the touch of love.

On a hillside of velvet the children they lay down
And make fun of the grown-ups with their silly frown.
And the sound of their laughter is the sound of the green sea
As it washed around the foot of the seashell tree.

The doves circle over and land in the trees
Where parrots are talking their words with such ease.
Thus spoke three wizards to the young ones that day:
"There's sadness in the kingdom, make it go far away."

If you follow the sunbeams through the valley of flowers
To the palace of the White Queen with its white jade towers.
The youngest, she sighed then the clouds drew away
And a hundred small fingers scratched their heads in dismay.

>From out of the sun a giant gull came flying
And the children got ready to sit on its wings.
They waved to the raindrops as they soared over the trees
The wind tossed their hair high, flashing gold on the sea.

They came to the castle and there they did fall,
And they saw all the sadness, through the crystal wall.
A princess lay a-sleeping so gentle and kind
Whilst her prince took to battle with his confused mind.

The clash of bright metal brought the children fear,
But their cloaks of blue satin dried up all of these tears.
The children held hands and they spelled out their name
All the golden children became a golden chain.

It lies on a white throne in a magic place
With a tunic of velvet and a gown of white lace.
My sword, it lies broken and cast in a lake
In the dream I was told that my princess would wake.

When the sun in the morning peeps over the hill and
kisses the roses 'round my window sill.
Then my heart fills with gladness as I hear the trill,
Of the birds in the treetop on Mockingbird Hill.

Tra, la, la, la; tra, la, la, lee, it gives me a thrill
To wake up in the morning to the Mockingbird's trill.
Tra, la, la, la; tra, la, la, lee, there's peace and goodwill,
You're welcome as the flowers on Mockingbird Hill.

Got a three-cornered plow and an acre to till,
A mule that I bought for a ten-dollar bill.
There's a tumbledown shack and a rusty old mill.
It's my "Home Sweet Home" up on Mockingbird Hill.

When it's late in the evenin', I climb up the hill,
And survey all my kingdom while everything's still.
Only me and the sky and that old whippoorwill.
It's my "Home Sweet Home" up on Mockingbird Hill.

(I remember Patti Paige and Slim Whitman(yodeling) this one)

And now, could someone please help me. I found Esther OFarim's Bird on a Wire and am ready to send for it, but I'm not sure how much money I'll owe. Amazon's recording is out of stock. I'm ordering from:

Jewish Music JMD

Product ID Quantity Product Name Price (Each)
CD CD 64001 1 CD Esther Ofarim @ 14.50
SubTotal £14.50
P&P £1.50
TOTAL £16.00

I don't need the exact amount. Just a rough estimate. Is that funny little sign in front of the amount, a dollar sign? Confused Any help would be appreciated.

Junior Birdmen-

Put your last three fingers under your jawbone. Twist your arms around, so that your elbows are up at the sides of your head. Put your thumbs and forefingers tigether, and place them around your eyes, so that they look like goggles.

Isn't that neat? Now if I can't find the rest of the words, I will go nuts.

I remember something about the last line having something to do with boxtops.

Owmygawd. How I do adore Google. Look at what I found!

Quote:
Into the air, Junior Birdmen,
Into the air, Birdmen true,
Into the air, Junior Birdmen
Keep your heads up in the blue...

And when you hear the radio announcer,
you'll get your wings of tin.
So remember, Junior Birdmen,
and send your box tops in.

Here is another "version".

Into the Air, Junior Birdmen

Into the Air, Junior Birdmen

Into the air, junior birdmen
Into the air, upside down;
Into the air, junior birdmen
Keep your nose up in the brown;
And when you see all those birdmen
With their shiny wings of tin
Then you will know the junior birdmen
Have sent their boxtops in!

P.S. Oh joy, oh happiness................and here's the tune!!!!

Thank you Phoenix. I never heard that one and I thought I knew them all. That thumb and forefingers thing isn't working for me. Laughing

Now if you can tell me how much money (see above) I'll owe, my day will be complete.
