After melding with K's, can the same person hold to K's

My partner in canasta hold's on to cards he already has layed. eg. melded with
K's and he holds on to 2 more K's in his hand in hopes of someone freezing the deck and laying down a King. Is this ok?

What's wronge with k's? Now B's that lie are my problem did u get hit in the head and forget you loved K's? U did something very evil!!
