Ah, if only we were in a society that isn't obsessed with flesh. Still, that's a pipe-dream. I feel that a pornographised society makes it hard for real love to grow, because people have the wrong priorities from birth.

I strongly disagree with your statement. Sex, obsession, lust are all very important parts of our society. Actually they are parts of life in general. Lust has been with us from the beginning of time and is something that evolved as a necessary part of ensuring there were enough offspring.

The reason we are excited by seeing "flesh" (I don't think obsessed is the right word) is because norally people wear clothes. If everyone on TV was nude, this would be so successful or fascinating.

But I wouldn't want that.

What is wrong with a little excitement. Entertainment that titilates is natural and as old as time.

'Excitement,' as you phrase it, is, to me, one of the few accepted types of infidelity. The widespread nature of the pornographic makes some women think that they must demean themselves to achieve happiness -- when this Lust can be all right, I suppose, is coupled with love; but it often is not. Lust is coupled most often with a desire to self-pleasure, which cannot be productive in creating a selfless society.

I don't know what a "selfless society" is, but I don't think I would want to live in one. It is precisely because I am an individual-- with my own ideas, and believes and desires-- that I am able to love. Love involves giving of one's self. Without self there is no true love.

Self pleasure is not a bad thing. When I make time for my self to go on a long lonely bike ride, it gives me great pleasure. When I buy myself an ice cream, or read a great book... it is wonderful. This can be taken in a sexual way as well. I don't think there is a difference.

Fidelty is based on a commitment you make to another person. It is a personal thing between a couple. For my wife and I at least (and most other couples), "Excitment" does not break any faith.

As far as what pornography makes some women think, well these women should be careful what they watch.

In the show in question, the newcasters don't do anything to demean themselves. They just take off their clothes and read the news.

If this makes some woman feel they can achieve happiness by taking off their clothes and reading the news...

... well maybe there is something to that. I don't have a problem with it.
