Next time you go back to that other country, the past, inoculate yourself against nostalgia; travel light and resist the temptation to buy cheap emotions from the locals.
Don't spend too much time in the glow of what might have been. Don't forget to leave behind all doubts on your return. Ideally, you should carry no bags, either way.
When you come back through customs you must declare your commitment to the present, and to doing things now. People expect much from you; you have much to give, but you can give little when you are living in the past. From now on , keep your visits there to a minimum, and don't stay longer than a few minutes at a time.
The present has more to offer than you could ever hope to try, so choose your options and then see them through. Properly. Thoroughly. Now
Incidentally, I'm returning your application for a visa to the future, as there's no such place.
