I wept with anger when I heard that they made a musical out of my favourite book, Les Liaisons Dangereuses. Deception, intrigue, predators and... corny musical numbers! :@
I remember that I had an Internet radio station once, back in the carefree first-year days, and I interviewed this guy, Sterry, who wrote a book, Chicken, about being a gigolo on LA's streets (it sounded awful; he was seventeen and some woman had him wear her dead son's clothes and breastfeed whilst saying 'I love you, Mommy.') I almost went off the air, but thousands tuned in and loved it... they're making THAT into a musical.
