Roosevelt Elk in Washington State inhabit the area called the peninsula - that is the huge State Park located in the N. Western part of the state. They aren't known elsewhere.
Ah, but there is a whole herd of them in Orick, California, NOT a peninsula, thus my confusion.... Good to know there are more of them than we both know!
