i guess, if you guys didn't have 'poor taste' in men, you wouldn't be here!
Leaves a bad taste in your mouth
(I grew up in Baton Rouge, and here's the official explanation of the name:
The city of Baton Rouge was named more than 300 years ago when on March 17, 1699, Pierre Le Moyne, Sieur d'Iberville, led an expedition along the Mississippi River.
The city's earliest written records are found in the diaries of these explorers which tell the tale of a pole stained with blood of fish and animals that served as the dividing line between the Bayougoula and Houmas Indians. It is from this "red stick" that Iberville christened the city "le Baton Rouge.")
i guess 'Iberville' read('red') a lot into that stake in the ground!
It is interesting how the sonic properties of language differ by 'tongue';
'Baton Rouge' sounds much more 'romantic' to an anglo ear, where
'cellar door' sounds more 'exotic' to a French person, unfamiliar with English.
McTag... "busted flat" is in the lyrics of the song "Me And Bobbie McGee".... the lyrics include the line, "Busted flat in Baton Rouge, Heading for a train, Feeling nearly faded as my jeans"..... hope this helps explain the posts above??????
