Is there any evidence relating the 'dumka' (the Ukranian for 'thought' and often cited as a musical style), and the English 'dumb'?
@dpcook,
no. no relationship.
Etymology:
before 1000; Old English; cognate with Old Norse dumbr, Gothic dumbs, Old Saxon dumb, Old High German tump, German dumm
