Can ANYONE please help with this 'Stinker' crossword clue? It's the only word I haven't been able to complete. (I need to send the entry in by the end of August).
"Spotty with mildew"
F _ G _ D
That 'G' could be an 'X' (as there are 2 words, with the same meaning, that fit the down clue) but that seems even more unlikely.
Every definition of 'FUGID' I've seen refers only to smell - even though that's the only word that seems to fit. COULD it also refer to the actual appearance (mildew spots) as well??
spotty with mildew
re STINKER crossword - 125 Down is LEXIGRAM. This allows FOXED for spotty mildew. This caused me enormous problems too.
Thanks for your help, both of you! Sorry I took so long to acknowledge.
Am now (not so patiently) waiting for Wednesday, when the Sept BIG hits the newsagents - also hoping there's a package with a Lovatts sticker in my mail box this week!
