LISBON (AFP) - The head of Portugal's police force was unfazed after his gun and two gold cuff links were stolen from his apartment in central Lisbon earlier this week.
Adelino Salvado told the local daily "24Horas" that the burglary, which occurred after he stepped out of his house to have coffee, was "a fact of life".
"It is just another 'fait divers,' like anything else. It is something that happens constantly to one in every 1,500 citizens," he added.
Police told the newspaper the burglars appeared to have quickly abandoned the apartment when they realized who the home belonged to.
