Guidelines on buying a large screen plasma or lcd

Hi, I wrote a message before, and I do not know if it went through.
So, here I go. Do you know what guidelines a person should follow when buying a large screen plasma or lcd? You wrote a post a while back describing a way that the setup was based on a distance from the tv screen. I'm buying two, so I wanted to know one could go about it.
