I have a fairly new DVD player SAMSUNG DVD-L300 10". I used it at home on AC power and on one trip in the car on battery and then DC power. A couple of days after reaching destination tried to play a movie and get no power. I've tried it on AC and DC with no success. Any ideas?
DvD player won't turn on
Have you tried removing the batteries or battery pack completely and running it on AC power? If no go may have a bad 'power on' button. I had a similar problem with an aiwa portable cd player..very hard to diagnose. Best to send to authorized repair place and have it checked out.
Samsung L300 doesn't power on either
What was the problem and solution
Luckily It was within the warranty period and I was able to return it to circuit city. I exchanged it for the same model and haven't had the problem since. I have a friend who bought the same item at the same time and his jus experienced the exact same problem but he is outside of warranty. He did buy the extended warreanty so now needs to return it for repairs.
As bjcarey says, try and run the unit off the AC power supply with no batteries in. This will check to see if the batteries are interfering with the unit.
If the DVD player works with AC and no batteries then the batteries /battery-pack is faulty.
If it still does not work (then it was not the batteries), try and use an alternative AC power-supply. This way we can see if the fault lies with the powersupply or the DVD unit.
If the alternative AC supply works then you've founf the fault, if not then the fault lies within your DVD unit.
Again as bjcarey suggests, if you have only recently purchsed the DVD unit take it back to the place you purchased it from for either a replacement or a repair.
Hope that helps.
Mine is out of warranty.
So had nothing to lose and took the case apart. Checked and power was on the circuit board just past the power connector. Power switch checks out ok. Still no power light. I don't know how to test any further. Also checked all the different power options, AC no battery, car connection etc. Looks like I will have to get a repair shop estimate.
Thanks for the replies.
No Prob's sorry I couldn't be of any more help.
I have an Audiovox portable DVD player. It has only been used once however, now reads "Wrong Disc" when I insert a DVD. Can someone help?
