Highlights and colour remover

Hi. I have bleach highlights but found my hair was getting too blonde so I opted for some darker pieces of light brown to be out through to tone it down but my blonde mane is now really dark. The colour was permanent so I'm wondering if I can use a colour remover to get rid of the dark pieces? Is this possible and will it ruin my bleached hair that is already there?
