Why did the chicken...?

A busy dual carriageway was closed in both directions after up to 1,000 chickens tried to cross the road.

The birds escaped from a lorry on to the busy A420 just outside Oxford during a collision involving four other vehicles at around 9.50am and spilled out onto the road.

But their bid for freedom could be short-lived, as thousands of shooting enthusiasts, game keepers and even falconers are in the area for an internationally renowned game fair.
