A block of ice at 0°c weighing 250g is placed on a heater and warmed until all the ice has melted, how much energy was added to melt the ice ?

You use the equation q=m*c*ΔT
Q=quantity of heat
M=mass
c=specific heat capacity
ΔT=change in temperature
Everything needed to solve your question is in the problem. Just plug in the values!
The change in temperature is the final temperature minus the initial temperature. 
C=4.18 J g °C

Temperature doesn't change during phase change. The amount of energy is the product of the mass and the specific heat of that phase change.
