Erik Hobbie thought of a unique way to propose to his girl -- he'd take her fishing and pull from the water a line on which he'd attached his grandma's heirloom diamond ring.
It was a dumb idea - when he made his big move, the ring had fallen off. "He just looked at the hook in horror," said girlfriend Pamela Gahr.
Hobbie, 44, of Ely, Minnesota, popped the question anyway and Gahr, 37, said yes. The ring has probably gone for ever.
