When we have a cold (rhinovirus) and lose our appetite, what's happening?

As someone in day 4 of a cold, I went 35 hours without so much as a nibble, when I ate yesterday it was mostly out watching the clock and forcing myself, didn't even finish what I'd prepared though the amount I made would normally have been finished easily. And today I'm at about 24 hours without food, or the hint of being hungry. Given the obesity pandemic in the world, why can't we synethize whatever's present in a cold eliminating our appetite as an appetite suppressant? Smile And what's actually going on with this appetite suppression with a common cold anyway?
